Eligible candidates:


All foreigners except those who hold Taiwan citizenship, including overseas Taiwanese citizens or compatriot students, are eligible to apply as an international student.
 

Application Timelines:


Fall Semester: October 1~December 31 (Early Admission)
January ~March 31 (Regular Admission)
Spring Semester: August 10~September 30 (Graduate Program Only)
 

Application packages:


1. An application checklist.
 
2. Two copies of application forms and detailed plan of study in English or in Chinese.
 
3. A photocopy version of the diploma of the highest degree achieved or any other equivalent document(s) translated into Chinese or English and notarized by Taiwan Overseas Representative Office (Those who will graduate later in the same academic year may submit a document attesting to their forthcoming graduation instead).
 
4. A full original transcript of academic records translated in English or Chinese and notarized by a Taiwan Overseas Representative Office.
 
5. Proof of Chinese and/or English proficiency.
 
6. Two letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes.
 
7. A photocopy of passport or other equivalent supporting documents.
 
8. Documented evidence of financial support which should be notarized by Taiwan overseas Representative Office.
 
9. A statement of health condition, including a report of AIDS tests, issued by a practicing physician within 6 months.

NCTU International Student Scholarship (Sponsored by the University)

NCTU International Scholarships are available to outstanding degree-seeking international students with excellent academic and research records. Selected students may be awarded monthly stipends and/or exemption from tuition fees.
I. Amount:
1. Undergraduate students: up to NT$7,000 per month and/or waiver of tuition and fees.
2. Masters students: up to NT$10,000 per month and/or waiver/reduction of tuition and fees.
3. Doctoral students: up to NT$15,000 per month and/or waiver/reduction of tuition and fees.
II. Duration: 6 months in the first semester (6-12 months thereafter).
III. Renewal: At the end of the first semester, students can apply for NCTU International scholarships for outstanding students, which include monthly stipends (up to NT$10,000 / 13,000 /20,000 for bachelors/masters/doctoral students) and/or waiver/reduction of tuition and fees. The scholarships for current students are awarded for 6 to 12 months on a yearly basis by review of academic performance and research records and subject to a maximum number of years.
 

Taiwan Scholarship

This scholarship is offered by the Taiwan Government and has to be applied via the Taiwanese Embassy or Representative Office in the prospective student’s home country.

TIGP Scholarship (Sponsored by the Academia Sinica)

The Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) is a PhD program established in 2002 by Academia Sinica, the foremost research institution of Taiwan. In collaboration with top universities in Taiwan, Academia Sinica offers advanced, inter-disciplinary PhD Programs in nine fields that span the natural and physical sciences, as well as computational linguistics. The program on offer with NCTU is Bioinformatics (http://tigpbp.iis.sinica.edu.tw/). TIGP students will learn in the all-English teaching and research environment, benefit from the instruction of world-class faculty, and have access to state-of-the-art research facilities at Academia Sinica and partner universities.
A. Eligibility: All applicants who are admitted to TIGP.
B. Amount: Up to NT$32,000 per month.
C. Duration: Up to 3 years
D. Renewal:
The first year is guaranteed whereas the amount of the stipend for the second and third years will depend on student’s performance.
